I just thought I would let the both of you know that Jeff did survive hurricane Wilma. He posted a couple times earlier on the thread I started to him and firesign, it's on the 2nd page... Hopefully he will be along soon to post. Just thought I would let you guys know so you didn't worry.. Jean I believe he is located in the Boca Raton area.... Rae

I'm so glad he's okay. I finaly learned where my aunt and uncle are - the ones I have the thread going about - New Smyna Beach looks like it's right on the coast on the map but my aunt said that they are 5 miles out - not far enough for me but she said that by the time it got to them, just a lot of wind and rain, nothing to keep them away from the hospital but what would if we had a sick child there - no matter the age.

If your having your surgery this morning I have already said a prayer for you and I hope everything is ok... I just got a call from my Mom and my step-Dad's family are all in the Boca Raton area by you. She said they were all coming to Tampa for a few days because there is still no electric, traffic lights etc down there.. Please check in with us and let us know how you are. I remember you saying they may cancel your surgery but I am assuming you are there now and they are doing it... So take care buddy. I hope you have a speedy recovery and the lights get turned on soon. That is if your still without power... Rae

I haven't been able to get ahold of my in laws since yesterday morning. They live in Clewiston, right near lake Okeechobee.....any of you have any clue?????

I'm in Palm Beach County - our area here and south of us in Broward / Ft Laud area seem to have been hit the worst. Majority of SE FL has no power and there was so much damage to the FPL infastructure that they are telling us to be prepared to have no power until Nov 8 / 15 or later
Today's update is that only HALF of Palm Bch County will have power by Nov 8

It's definitely not fun!!! Personally, I do not have water either cause I have well & septic so no power means no water!!
Luckily I have a generator to power some stuff but we have to conserve gas big time cause there is a major shortage of that and the few places that have gas have lines that are several hours wait time!! UGH!!! I am almost out of gas for the generator like many others. Going to try to syphen (sp??) some out of the boat since it has aprx 100 gallons in it and that sure beats driving all around trying to find some and then wait forever!!
Majority of phone land lines are not working either as they rely on power. Cell phones are working here and there but not consistantly.
Not sure where Jeff was going to have his surgery at, but many hospitals are still on generators, including West Boca Med Center so many things are postponed until power gets restored.

Clewiston is a bit west of where I am at. Please don't worry if you can't reach your family there. Communications around the lake area are almost non-existant. As long as they were not in a mobile home, I am sure they are safe. Hopefully you will hear from them soon. Everyone is out helping all of their neighbors to be sure that no one is in need of anything. It really is inspiring to see so many people here helping each other!!! In my neighborhood, we are all cooking together and basically sharing everything that we have with each other and also helping remove trees from the roads, etc.
The northbound highways are jammed up too cause some people are leaving due to having no power, water, phones, etc along with the structural damage everywhere. It really does look like a war zone here!!

I did not even realize it at first.....
(Though I am working my steps in NA and loving it SOOO much!!)
I was so stressed and freaking out I was just thrilled to have people posting to me while I was going thru that
I never did take that valium, though I really needed it.....
Especially when the 2nd eyewall hit us and it was much worse than the first one!!!
I lost areas of my roof, water coming into the house and then to top that off, I had several inches of water plus debris INSIDE of my brand new Durango!!
I am afraid that the electrical system is fried - there is water dripping out of the DVD system, the lights and other wierd places....
Oh well - just material things....
Myself and my family are all safe and that is the most important thing!!!!

Well I finally heard from my inlaws this am.........she said Clewiston was hit really badly.....their place seems ok so far.....the porch took the brunt of it.but as she looks around houses are pretty bad........our boat we have there is upside down, half in and half out of the water.the dock is gone!!! and the truck took some damage.but all can be replaced.thank goodness they are safe....I have learned material possesions can always be replaced but never alife......
you all hang in and my prayers are with you..as soon as we are able to get a flight we will be there.more like over the week end.....there goes my week end with my son in Washington......but need to deal with the crap there....

She e-mailed me later that day and said " Did 12-stepper change his name to Swizzle or something"? She said cause you were posting to stepper not Swizzle.. I went to the board and sure enough there you were,LOL See right above from where I started posting to you on that thread, I made a post to firesign, suboxman, DJ and 12 stepper. I knew they all lived in Florida. I forgot that you did. So when I saw your dog like 12 stepper has I just assumed you were him..LOL Looking back I know you didn't mind like I said you were in the eye of a hurricane for crying out loud... that was minor compared to what you had on your mind.. I am so happy you made it through that hurricane though..I know how scary they can be. I know it sucks not having any electric, been there done it..I will keep you in my thoughts..
I haven't received any e-mails from Jeff ( suboxman). I knew he was scheduled for surgery Tuesday yesturday but they were talking about canceling it before the storm. I don't know what hospital he was going to BUT I do believe he is in the Boca area.. My step-dad's family came down here to Tampa to stay for a while with my mom..because they are in Boca without power. I will let her know it may be until Nov 8th. I am sure she will be thrilled. She doesn't like my step-dad's younger brother too much. He smokes and drinks way too much and that doesn't fly with my mom:-) I guess she'll have to deal a while longer... I am sure she will survive it.. So let me know when you get power and I will pass the message to my mom, Okay..

I hear you there about moving...........my momin law says she wants back here bad..even though we have earthquakes, its not 4 hurricans a year....I looked into the neewpaper link you sent.thanks I took a look and saw the pics of Clewiston.......my hun just talked ot his dad and found out that half the docks went by by..somehow the boat got lose and flipped.....so he says to my hun.when you getting down here to get your boat outta here.LMAO as soon as we can...but thats what your there for.........hopefully truck and boat will be back in calif soon..........
