My heart goes out to you.
I have felt just like you and have also gone through all the crap of finding a doctor that would accept insurance. Don't give up trying to find a good doctor, it took me a while but they are out there.
Have been on methadone for many years and find suboxone to be MUCH better.
Good luck to you.

Dog,
I don't post to threads on sub. because I never took it and know nothing about it. I'm glad it works, I really am. And I like seeing the people that have a plan for the use of it to get off in weeks or months etc.. I do get worried about the people that imply they'll need it for ever . I am glad to see you feeling better.
I didn't want you to think because I didn't post here it was because I'm 100% against it, I'm not. But I can't give advice about something I didn't go through myself. If it works as a bridge from using to recovery then thats great.
Take care....................................God bless...................................Bob

For me the answer is Methadone. I have 20 years of addiction to pain meds, and the methadoneis the ONLY thing that I have ever been able to take once a day like my thyroid meds and not have to worry about running out or getting more. The clinic system sucks to say the least. Did you know that any doctor can prescribe Methadone for pain? I've also heard of some doctors prescribing it for depression. It makes sense in a way. The Sub is supposed to be a great med as well. I've never taken it and I only know of one person who is and he sayd it works great! He also has several years of addiction behind him. I wonder why insurance wont cover the sub? I know if you can get methadone prescribed for pain insurance will cover it, but I don't know about addiction. I do know that you can deduct Methadone treatment from your taxes though...
Good Luck to you!
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Cheri, now that would be one that i couldn't figure how to figure how to accomplish, getting a Dr to know me and trust me enough, understand addiction, and be aware of the methadone situation. Somehow , he wouldl have to pretend to me that is was for pain & so wouold I, & we both would know it was for addiction, maintenace. That would not be so bad to be on methadone for life if you didnt have to deal with the clinic, & as far a prescription plan paying for methadone, I dont think its that expensive a medicine, even in Florida,,,,,,but finding a Dr like that , if you know someone who did it, they are a genius, but t** is a great idea (your whole concept indicated in the post above)
