Anyone who has a moment to check out my journal entry for today and offer any sound advise, it would be greatly appreciated. Be forewarned, the post is long, hence, I didn't want to retype it here. :)
Thanks, in advance,
Zipper
Hi Zipper,
Being as you were told you'd be transitioning into study coordinator, then not only was the job given to someone else a new position was added and given to someone else. I'd be ticked off. I'd started sending out my resume immediately. Your over qualified to be a glorified secretary.
So, you had a slip of the tongue. Hurt feelings anger won. Those involved know it's justified their not stupid. They'd be peeved to. OK, keep it hush hush until that new job is landed. If your asked nod say little your not denying, or lieing. Your just being non chalant.
Pray much for strength and a new job where you can use your experience, skill, abilitie, talents that youv'e earned. Get those resume's out. I seriously doubt your going to be fired over what you said by tomorrow. I'm pretty sure you would qualify for unemploymeny benefits. Put it in God's hands. I'll be praying for you.
It may be a bit tense at work. Think of something that makes you happy. A pool size of chocolate pudding with good looking 20 something handsome guys. Maybe Johnny Depp. Colin Farrel. You name it Zipper.
I'm so glad you have your sister for support. I'm super happy you didn't drink over it. Your smart your going to be OK.You will land on your feet. Just like your kitty Dwight they always land on their feet to.
Let us know what happens tomorrow on the diary board. Sending you good warm thoughts.
God Bless,
Chris xxx

Hi Zipper,
My take is that you were treated badly and responded pretty much as most people would. I don't know how easy it would be to get another job where you live, but from what you've written a reasonable next step would be to look for one. I guess my only question is why you think they made the decision they did. Are there any skills/competence/attitude issues that led them to hire in, rather than promote you as promised....or were you led to believe it was a promise by someone who simply made a mistake and didn't understand the reality of the situation. This is where rigorous self-honesty is important. Are you REALLY ready? (AND it's important to be HONEST - don't UNDERSELL yourself when you think that question through!)
Your options include simply changing jobs; asking your boss/decision makers what you would have to do to be promoted (so they have to be specific about the reasons and you can make any necessary changes and show them you have); collaborating with decision makers to enrich your role with more interesting work and sharing the boring stuff around......
What are your assets? What would they not want to lose? Is there anything you can do that others can't?
I liked your point about being prudent.....so perhaps listen to yourself and don't rush to decide.....but at the same time, don't slip into accepting something you're not happy with. Your life is too important to do that.
Employers can be rubbish sometimes. I'm glad you're not letting that fact run your life. You're still in the driving seat.

Hi Zipper . Sorry things arent going so great at work. Have you looked into taking stress leave? I think looking for another job would be the best option for you.No job is important enough to make your life miserable. Take some time to think things through but I think you already know what your decision is. Find the courage to do what you think needs to be done and has we say here" grab the bull by the horns. "
I think you need to be out of any environment that is a trigger to you especially this soon in your sobriety . That is of the most importance to you now. or that is my opinion. Always know whatever your decision you have people who care about you and will be there for you. God bless and be safe.....*

Thank you all for responding...I will write more on the diary but in a nutshell...praying for acceptance helped me today...AND they added in more coordinating to my job description TODAY. Imagine that....
To answer the question, the decision to hire other's came down to experience...although I have experience in cancer research, I don't have any in clinical trials, which is a totally different beast. The one girl they hired had 6 years clinical trial experience and the other is a RN...I can understand why they made the decision they did...just wish I wasn't told one thing and then had the carpet pulled out from under me. That is what hurt the most.
I'll write more in my diary but just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to read my post and then reply. I really appreciate it.
In spirit,
Zipper
