The Secret

There is an amazing book called "The Secret". By Amanda Bryne. ( I think that's her last name.) Has anyone heard of it? Rachel recommended it to me, I got it on CD and listen to it while I'm driving, etc. It's incrediable. It's all about postivie thinking and change. Laws of attraction and what we attract into our lives. I can't get enough of it right now.....I got mine through Amazon.com and for 6 CD's I think it was 25. bucks plus shipping. Well worth it. It's easy to listen to, doesn't go over my head like so much of that stuff does..lol I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to change the way they think and want positive thoughts and actions.
Cowgirl,
I have not read the book or seen the dvd yet but Ive sure seen it discussed alot -Oprah, Montell, etc. Jack Canfield (who wrote Chicken Soup for The Soul) is a follower of the theory in this book. There were several other motivational speakers who all believed in the message. The gist from what Ive gathered is as you mentioned - what you give out you receive, you attract what you wish for, etc. Im heading to the mall tomorrow so I will pick it up for sure. I also want to get the book by Bob Woodruff (In An Instant) about his injuries as a reporter in Iraq but also it speaks largely to the fact that any of us can have our lives changed in an instant and how to prepare and deal. I hear excellent things about this book too.
CG- I bought the book and I liked it. But I am wondering if the CD's would be a better purchase. When I read it I get all inspired and try to curb the I dont want thoughts then I simmer down and the comittee blares again LOL. But I just pick it up and re-read it at night everynight since I bought it. Tell me aobut the CD's
CG:

I'm glad you liked it!

For me, I do a lot of driving with my job. It is easier for me to pop in an audio book than to find time to read it. Also, having it on in the car is a good way to hear the message and let it resonate. Since I am in Los Angeles and traffic is a source of aggravation the CD's help keep me grounded and also are a gentle reminder of trying to see the good in all people without focusing on the negative.

Honestly this is working. Two examples: The first is regarding money. Since I started doing The Secret, I have received an additional amount of income, aside from my commission, aside from my base salary of close to $20,000.00. Coincidence? I don't think so.

The second example: I have two very good friends who were in business together. Their busines was thriving. They were making money hand over fist. Well, all three of us got loaded together. They lost their business and each blamed each other for the past 10 years. I had to hear each one of them b**** about the other one and constantly shift blame while I remained like Switzerland. I also, would say I didn't want to hear it. Well, low and behold, one of them starts doing The Secret and everytime she walks her dog on the beach the other one is in her path. It started with a "hello." Fast forward, Tuesday night we were all out to dinner laughing and reminiscing. No more scars, no more resentments. Just a lot of healing.

Have a great day!!

I have both the book and the DVD. Both are so incredibly well done. The message certainly has been around for some time, this just puts it into a easier way of understanding. Love them both, I would highly recommend the DVD. I have watched it over and over.
When I am reading parts of the book, I can feel such a connection to everything around me, it's that feeling of serenity we are all striving to capture.

I agree. The message is nothing new. It is something we all know but is is a good reminder and helps to keep us on track and not fall back into negative thoughts and actions.

When I was in my early 20's I read, Shakti Gawain's, "Creative Visualization." It's the same principle but definitely a good reminder.

Rachel -I Love it! I love to hear real life examples of how it works! Thanks for sharing. I guess maybe the book has the same information as the CD's then. I was surprised how small the book was not many pages. I am considering buying the CD's thanks for letting me know.
Love,
Jane
The dvd is amazing. I bought it a couple months ago. You can also watch it online (think the address is Thesecret@tv.com) If not I'm sure you could google it. It's really worth watching. If I had the time I'd start out everyday watching it.
Is it something you watch over and over?
I heard about it on the Montel show the other day. The entire audience seemed inspired by it. I'm usually skeptical of these sort of things but I haven't heard a negative comment about the book/cd yet.

Hi, cowgirl...
I recommend a wonderful website for those interested in learning and taking positive changes in their lives. The web-site is educate_yourself.com.

Deirdre
I've had to apply alot of what I've learned from the CD's in the last 24 hours....it does work. I love the thought....put a smile on your face for a full minute. It is impossible to feel bad when you do...it works!
Rachel,

I too have read 'Creative Visualization'. It's amazing and helped me get out of a creative block I was in for so long. I usually don't listen or read self help books because the freaks that write them are out to hustle a buck. I can recite dozens of nuts who just want your money...Just look at Oprah's list. Sorry, i know many of you like her books. It's just i have worked with a lot of these people and they just want your money...

I would however, be very interested in any book that emphasizes positive thinking.
I'll check it out...
