Tired Of Shame

I am 42 years old and have been batteling with alcohol for about 3 years. It has gotten uncontrollable and I found myself drinking everynight. Passing out much of the time.
I have been in rehab 2 different times. I am having much trouble STAYING sober for any length of time. I have a very hard time asking people in AA meetings that I need help. I do not have a sponsor for the same reason. I have been going to meetings but cannot seem to stay sober for over 3 weeks. I allways end up relapsing for a few days.

I am so tired of being tired of this whole thing. I want sobriety so bad for myself and my family. Has anyone else had such a hard time?
I'm 40 years old and have also had a drinking problem for the past few years. I even got a DUI recently. Although I don't drink and drive any longer, I still drink. Things in my life are changing and I'm finding other alternatives that keep me busy. I can sort of see a light at the end of the tunnel. So maybe that's the ticket. Change your environment and you might find things you like to do better than sitting around and drinking. I'm trying at least.
To the person that wrote me. Are you going to meeting's? When is the last time that you drank? Dec. 25 is my "new" sober date. How long can you go without taking a drink? Good Luck!!! I hope you get this message.
I am a 40 year old male who has been battleing with alcoholism for many years too. I tried everything and just keep going back to old behaviors. I just got a DUI and I continue to drink. What can I do?

My new sober date was 26th dec, lets keep in touch and see how we fare. Also gave up ciggies on the same day and am finding consolation in lots and lots of cups of tea.

Good luck to you and when you feel like a drink, clean a cupboard go for a walk, run a bath clean your teeth and then have a nice big mug of strong tea and when the next day comes you will feel marvelous.
Corberry,
Congrat's on the 26th of Dec. Today was a week for me. Tomorrow for you. I would love to keep in touch and check in with you. I met someone at a meeting yesterday. She has me reading 10 pages out of the Big Book. The 12 and 12 book and she wants me to have my first step done by tomorrow. Do you have a Big Book? You need one. This is the first time I really have been accountable to someone else to finish something like this. I am going to try to let here guide me thru this, seeing that I have not been able to be successful on my own.

I want sobriety so bad. I hope the cravings go away for me. It sure is alot harder than I thought. I thought I could stop whenever I really wanted. HA HA!! Write me back and let me know how you are.

Carlos, Why don't you start your sobriety date today? You can keep in touch with me to let me know how you are doing.

Hope to hear from both of you......and
Have a Great New Year!! Kay

is there any answer other than AA? have been to meetings and found it 'evangelical' (i can hear you AA-ers screaming 'denial'), it's almost prescriptive, they speak a certain language and if you challenge there's nowhere to go - thoughts anyone?
I feel for anyone who has to go through what you're going through. I have a close friend that I've dealt with for several years who had the same problem. He tried lots of ways to stay sober, and just couldn't do it until he started using this nutritional product. Unbelievable!! It really does control his cravings for alcohol, and he says that it has no bad side effects, because it's not a drug. It's amazing the difference it has made for him. He never drinks unless he chooses to, and then it's still under control. It has something to do with repairing neurotransmitters in the brain. Anyway, there is a website for it, but I'm not sure of the web address. If you're interested, I could find out and let you know. I'd like to help you.
Sue,
I would be interested. I bought the book "End Your Addiction Now" but there are some many pills (nutrients, minerals, etc.) to take. I have bought some, am still trying to find others. It's encouraging to see that taking these things help other people. Would like to know what your friend did, if you could find out. Thanks.
