Hi Russ,
What kind of puppy did you get? I love dogs. I used to breed Great Danes and Boxers in Wisconsin. Tell me about him/her if you want to, getting a pup is a member of the family, since we just moved and I've been out of dogs for quite some time, we haven't had one in awhile, but my 10 yr. old son wants one so badly, he's always had one. So, his birthday is in October and I'm getting him an English Springer Spaniel, he'll be so thrilled. Good luck with the puppy. They're such good companions, I love all animals, but mostly dogs.
You seem to be doing wonderful, and I congratulate you.

Hey Roseanne,
Thanks for the post :) I have shown dogs for almost 20 years with a recent 7 year absence from the show ring...........There is a long story here but ( perhaps someday I may be able to tell you it all) anyway, I still have one of my original dogs who is now 13 years old and I have been thinking about getting another puppy for a long time now..........I really want to start showing again! and since tomorrow is my birthday (7/23) I could not think of a better present besides being clean right now then to get a puppy :) A good friend of mine had a litter in May and she drove up from Florida yesterday to bring him to me! BTW.........The breed that I have are Tibetan Terriers........Wonderful dogs! and extemely smart too :) Thanks for asking and it was great to hear from you!
God Bless, Russell

wow, at the risk of this not being an addiction topic and getting all that started again, I couldn't help but jump in here. I'm a dog breeder too. I breed chihuahuas and pitbulls. Isn't that a combination? Through alot of years of trying we finally managed a unique breed of chihuahuas. They're brentil. Sorry, dog lover that I am, couldn't help myself. Briar, we have a litter now if you're interested, lol. Seriously, chihuahuas aren't for everybody. They are tiny but make up for it in attitude. Take care, Kathy
Hi Kathy.......Actually this thread can be related to recovery. My dog (and now dogs) are a big part of my life and if I continued on the path I was taking eventually I would have either lost my job, been arrested, or both. And not been able to take care of them........
We have so much to lose when we are abusing..........It takes getting clean to realize the simple things in life that we have forgotten. For me it is getting up early and walking my dog because I want to.........not because she has to go out :)
Our pets are very much a part of our recovery.........I know mine are part of my family as well........
Would love to hear more about your dogs if you ever want to email me......
Big Hugs, Russell
