Well,Miss USA is as far from education as you can get,but it is entertaining, and right now,i need that,by far!

Enjoy your program,im sure its very interesting.~KIM

I love Jamie Lee too, love her father even more!
Jeff,
Thanks for the heads up, it was a good show. Jamie Lee Curtis tells is straight, she is one tough lady. It's really good to see celebrities in real recovery try to make a difference by speaking out about their addictions and trying to get rid of the stigma. One thing she said was if the netpharms would have been around when she was using, she would be dead now. The Public Service ad on meth was really good also, did you catch that?
Man Cynical I caught that Ad and I hope its shown to every Kid in this country.

It was really good to see a program about Addiction and yes Cynical Jamie Lee is one tough lady.

I think we are seeing a change in attitude. Cynical the strain on our health care system?

They must educate the kids Early--My eldest daughter was introduced to a program at at age 7? forget the name but the local police came in monthly and educated all age groups.

Like anything else its the PEOPLE who can make the changes. The media can be pushed as we are seeing,

Hollywood is very powerful and hopefully this is just the beginning.

Cynical that ad about Crystal was HEAVY DUTY

Jeff
Cynical I was curious only 70+ people even looked at the thread. But when there is a brew ha ha here you get 1000,s?

LOL--I was searching the tube and remembered that Larry King was sick and Maria Shriver was the guest till Larry returns.

Was shocked to see her subject and immediatly posted. maybe evreybody was out at an AA meeting

I enjoyed the show and related to it. How can you not relate?

Have a good weekend

Jeff
I watched it. It was good. Maria Shriver? I have never liked her...but she did ok last night covering for Larry.

Jamie Lee was a pill head! I never knew that about her. I really enjoy her work. Did you know she was also born a Aphrodite? She had both male and female genitalia.

Education about this disease is the only way to combat it with our young. I swear its as important as the teaching about strangers...and good touching/bad touching. These kids are exposed to drugs and alcohol so early. I have taken Kearra to meetings...she knows the danger of alcohol, she is five.

We were at the beach a few weeks back and friends we were with asked me if I wanted a beer and Kearra piped up. "My mee-mee, doesn't drink alcohol" I was so proud of that little goomer" I said, "thats right baby!" She keeps me accountable.

I liked the comparison that Jamie Lee used regarding - John Edwards wife...how she is suffering from Breast Cancer, and how her family and the Country are behind her. Brittney Spears....well she is suffering from a disease too....what does she and her family get? Ridicule.....its disgusting!

Progress...not perfection!
Yeah the meth ad was pretty intense, I hope to see it on commercial TV, but sometimes those ads just don't make it.

I just read a study that CASA did, 49% of full-time college students abuse drugs or alcohol. So, I agree very much with you and kee kee about education, we need to get to the kids younger. The DARE program is great, and in my area it is required. I think they need to go further though, the kids need to really see the devastation that drug and alcohol abuse can cause. If its too graphic and scares them, so what, that would be a good thing.

I think its real good to see celebrities taking recovery seriously. As much as I feel bad for those like Britney and Lindsey Lohan, they seem to just be playing at recovery. They go to rehab but get special treatment, come and go as they please. I was disappointed in the rehabs allowing them to be treated differently, addiction is addiction, it doesnt discriminate and neither should the course of treatment. But, my god the way the paparazzi is all over them is disgusting.

And, not only is it a strain on the health care system, but also on the prison system. 80% of those incarcerated are in on drug charges or drug related crimes. And, within the system the programs just plain suck. I did a thesis paper on this and it costs about 4 times the amount to house a prisoner for a year than to put them in inpatient rehab for a year. We are building more and more prisons, but are cutting funding for addiction treatment. This just doesnt make sense to me, is a waste of taxpayers money, and they come out and go right back to what they know.

I think it's just human nature to be drawn to drama, same thing happens on the family board. OMG if you don't follow the mob mentality, and happen to speak your mind, or think outside the box, it turns into a drama thread and everybody is looking. And, then the passive aggressive posts are posted and then deleted. I really think we get much sicker on our side. But, I also think on both sides everyones emotions are raw and knee-jerk reactions are posted before we think about if we are part of the problem or part of the solution.
Cynical these "addicts" Like Britney?

JMO first off an addict? more like a spoiled baby who now finds herself saddled down with 2 kids--RESPONSILITY.

They talk about taking her kids? Her kids are quite safe. Money buys security.

That picture of Brit speeding away from Cameras with kid in Lap? Anybody out there do anything worse pertaining to our kids? Come on give this girl a break.

She is smart talented and will be O.K JMO but I do not think Britney is a drug addict. Just a spoiled enabled baby. And yea if not stopped NOW it will get worse.

But talk of giving that s-bag husband> her kids NEVER -you think he wants them? He took off from his previous G.F while she was pregnant with second? This guy is looking for more $$ as the PRE NUP is IRON TIGHT--good for Brit.

Cynical No legit Rehab allows for ANY special treatment for anyone. I do not know who they think there fooling. I was shocked after reading all the crap they allowed Brit to get away with. That "PROMISES" is no rehab. And for someone who went there thinking it was a good rehab how could they not see the hypocrisy?

Its a sad story but hopefully People like ANA NICOLE will keep addiction in the media's eye.

Cynical down here in Ft Lauderdale we used to get 300,000-400,000 kids down here--Now ? 10,000 but still stupid deaths--some girl fell from the fifth floor as she was climbing outside from one balcony to another.

Another life snuffed out. SAD--l

Jeff

P.S If people would stop reading these dumb rag papers well then there would not be such a demand.

I mean If I was a good cameraman and has the tools and my pictures are worth 100,000"+$$ you cant blame these guys for going at any lengths to get the picture.

I still think there S-bags but certainly understand there actions
