A great friend of mine who knows me well from the program, just came over and took the pills away. For those of you who don't know, I got prescribed vics after dental work. I told him I had them, and they were needed, etc. He showed up at my door in five minutes, and told me to give them to him. Which I did.
And I tell you, all I felt was relief.........
He told me that it isn't safe to have my drug of choice around. I justified the pain, but to be honest, it isn't that bad. Not bad enough to have vics and feel the terror being on them has given me. I struggled so hard to get clean, twice.
I am hoping that it isn't that painful in the morning, but I am relieved that they are gone. There is motrin.

wow, that is awesome!! i had a simular experience and i wouldn't give my friend the pills as she sat there in tears i did not care, now i look back and feel so badly, but then i didn't care at all, the disease of addiction is horrible!!

The tooth hurts a little..the main reason I felt relief is I don't like the way they made me feel. The initial 2 minute buzz was cool, but then you go into that "hazy gotta take more just to feel normal space..."
There is no way that I would have given them to him the day the procedure was done...hell no! And that is because it hurts so damn bad! That is not an aspirin kinda pain!

You did what you had to do to get the drugs outta your house. You didn't make any excuses. You didn't falsely justify your use of the pills.
Deep down inside you should feel good about your decision. Piece of mind is priceless.
I actually had to get a root canal done a little while ago. WOW that was painful! I wouldn't let them give me any narcotics!!!! I fought the pain and only took Advil!!!

im julie pretty new here 5 years of vicodin hell 6 days clean although i have had a fex xanax and have drank but 6 days after 5years is good. Anyway i just wanted to say what a friend to care so much for you, i really dont have anyone i can talk with my mom died 3 years ago thats how all this started, she was my best friend, but anyways 6 days is longer than ive gone before, congrats on letting him take them and having such a friend, best of luck to you.....julie

Hang in there. Get some face to face support. It isn't easy to kick vics....but it is possible. Get as much support around you as possible. AA and na rooms are full of people who really care, who have been there.
