Valerie - Where Are You Hun?

Hi Val
Hope you are OK haven't heard from you in a few days.
Idgie
- Hi Idgie,
Thanks for checking. I didn't get online this weekend. I was in Las Vegas visiting my parents. It went well. It was fun to catch up. My mom gave me all my old yearbooks and scrapbooks from highschool. We were all laughing because I was a part of some drug awareness thing in Highschool and I even got certificates. My dad laughed and said I should send all the awards back and tell them to re-evaluate their programs. Ha ha....I went from gambling to speed to alcohol which I hope is the last of my addictions. Thanks so much for asking about me. I was telling my mom about this message board. No one in my family can believe that I quit drinking and my mom was just asking how I quit. I said I really didn't know but this place was definately a huge benefit to my sobriety. I did remind her that the wheels could definitely (sp?) fall off at anytime but for now I am sober. Thanks so much for checking in on me. I just logged on a little bit ago and saw my name and got a big smile.
How are you doing? I hope well. My hubby asked if there was anything from (Gigdie) ha ha. I said no honey it'sIdgie. There is also a Ginge and an Izzie. He sweet. I guess he does sort of listen to me when I ramble on about my new friends. You are all swell. Hope you are doing well and thanks again for checking in on me...it means more than you know.
Your Friend Valarie
Hi Valarie
Glad you had a fun weekend with your parents. Sounds like you can talk to them pretty openly which is great.

Gidgie - that's too funny - maybe I'll have to change my name LOL.

Hi Valerie;) Glad you're doing good, and had a nice visit with your parents. Doesn't that make you feel good?

I have to tell you, last night i was laying in bed trying to fall asleep, and i started thinking about you, and was going to post to you this morning, and sure enough Idgie already did;)

Hope everyone has a great Monday;)
Hi Valarie, I too was wondering where you were...glad you had a good time in LV...I'm going camping to Big Bear in a couple of weeks with my Parents. I have to laugh cause it's not really camping; they have huge RV (a condo on wheels & it is a camping timeshare ~ lol) I wanted to extend an invitation to you. We are having the 22nd annual South Bay AA round up starting this Friday going through Tuesday....you will find the website below. If you'd like to come up for any of it just let me know and I can meet you there. I'll be there off and on during those days. I'm actually leading one of the Marathon meetings Sunday evening. About 3500 people attend...it's so much fun. Bands, dancing, food, fellowship, tons of sober fun!

Hi Val, good to see you back! I was wondering too where you'd gone off to. I've never been to LV, my brother went a few months ago and loved it, itching to go back already. I saw a funny bit by the comedian Dane Cook at a Vegas show on TV - "Whatever happens in Vegas and I see it, I'm telling everyone!" Struck me really funny. Anyway glad you are back & hope it was a great weekend!
Thanks to you all Jayde, CB VW, and Idgie for checking in on me. Sometimes I don't look at the boards but once a day. It's weird. Sometimes I think I may get addicted to checking these damn boards. Funny huh. Thanks for the info on the seminar VW. We have a good friend in the San Jose area that travels all over california giving speeches at AA gatherings. He and his new wife were just here in Orange county about 2 months ago for some huge shindig. Jayde that is so sweet you thought of me last night. You gals are all swell!

Your Friend,
Valarie
Val its so good to hear you sound so cheerful - I love your upbeatness and humour.

I'm feeling pretty chipper myself today :) no particular reason except maybe that I'm SOBER!!!! Hehehe.

I really should be working and not posting - so I'm goanna fly for now, do some work and maybe pop back on line during lunch.

sun is shining, home group meeting tonight - life is good.

Idgie.
Val, glad to see ya back here! What is your friend's first name (the circuit Speaker) you mentioned in your post above. As you know in AA we go by first names only, sometimes last initials, and some others don't mind breaking their own anonymity by stating their last name...but anyway, maybe me or my sister have heard him speak. This will be a large forum that I will be leading the meeting at (the topic is Honesty); however, we have one meeting where you can take your cakes at and it has usually 200 hundred people or more there, every Saturday night. I took my 1 year cake there and it was overwhelming! However, my sister Rachel (on this board) have had the privilege and honor to be Speakers at meetings and also go panels to Hospitals and Institutions...in fact, we went on a Panel together not too long ago.
VW, His name is Randy Sargenti and his wife is Kathleen. He won't mind giving his name. He is very open with what he does. There was a big thing in Sacramento that he is speaking at or maybe he already did. He has been sober for over 10 years. He's very cool. I talked to him a little when I was first getting sober. He is a good sounding board. Hope you're having a great day!
Your Friend, Valarie
Thanks Val for giving me your friend's names. I'll ask the guy at our local Alano club if he has any of his pitches on CD. This guy goes to Speaker meetings, Round-ups and Conventions and records the Speakers (he firsts asks permission of course). They are only $4.00 per CD and $3.00 per tape. I spoke at a meeting and he even recorded my pitch, LOL ~ when my boyfriend heard it he turned it off at the beginning and he said, "Your story is so sad..." ~ I guess it is but I don't really see it that way, I know my sister gets sick when she hears about the depths I went to during my drinking days. But those days are gone and if I continue to do as I'm directed I should be able to stay sober one day at the time with God's help and His grace.
