Viccodin Addiction...detox Wouldn't Take Me!

Jilly
If you you are still here i would like for you to email me at lovelytobe232yahoo.com
The center you called about sub. is a ripe off big time.it must of have been a hospital that told you come and we will exam you ,be in w/ds.then give you the sub. and you will get your script called in weekly or something like that.treatment is nowhere near that amount.i called the flordia center it turn out to be a hosptial.they told me thousands of dollars.i asked how it work they said in 15 mins you will be your oldself again.they told me how it worked i asked alot of question.I asked the name of the med. it was. They acted like they didnt want to tell me.Also, said it could only be done like that in a hospital also wasnt but, very few doctors in usa could prescribe it.i looked up the med. they told me it was sub.i found they were lieing to me about alot of things.i found that they are many doctors and pys. that prescribe it.So,i have been reading your posts and i feel for you very much.if you want to do it at home cold trukey then thats great but, i will help you find a doctor in your area for a couple of hundresd bucks first vist then after you are put on it the next vists should be less then one hundred dollars.my vists are 75 bucks i dont go every month ethier it has been great.I felt like i was going to kill myself if i didnt get help soon right before i found my psy.If you would like me to help you find out and give you more infor. in your state just email me.hope you are ok,crystal

Atlas, you should ask your doctor to give you 8mg tablets they are less expences then the 2mgs.Then if you dont need the whole 8mgs you break it into 4 pieces .that would be 4 doses of sub. run about 5 bucks a piece maybe a little less.Depending on how many you get fill at a time the more you get off script the less it will be...Glad you are diong good. How many mgs are you on a day?crystal
You're welcome honey. Good luck.
Tried to email you, but the email didn't go through...can you give me your email address again? Thanks.

Hi Jilly,

I wish you well in your journey, I would like to add, if you can get some Trazadone for sleep, from your doctor, 25 mg you can take as much as 50 mg, it will help you like you wouldn't believe. Clonadine for blood pressure and low dose valium for restless legs if you get them, not all do, I did.
Before you ask for valuim, ask for a script of potassum pills first try those. I didn't know about those when I went thru it.

Should you start having what they call restless leg syndrome, get just enough low dose, valium to take for those, and only get no more than 3-5 days worth. Not enough to become dependent on them, they give in Rehab. No more than 3-5 days very important. I was given all three, and it was a god send. I was also given an AD one month before WD, then went off after 6 months, the AD I mean... It helps with the depression if you get it, some don't. Mine was a precaution this go round, The first time I went CT the depression was severe. I took the valium at dinner time, then the Trazadone for sleep. I had never even taken a valium before in my life. Not something I would have gotten addicted too.

I know some people are totally against them but if it helps you in my opinion, take it short term. The key word is short term on all the above, just tools to help you thru the WD initially.
Since your doctor is weaning you off tell him you want to do this CT hence ask him about all the above and the OTC stuff to see what he suggests. Remember try to not Think too much.. clear your mind of all thoughts if you can and just go with it.
You may not need anything. Most people don't. I am one of those that did. You know your body better than any of us and even better than the doctors. Listen to it.
Thank God for your friend, as someone said one door doesn't close for another opens.

Jilly, I was thinking about you when I woke up this morning. The people you are talking to on the board are all giving you great advice. You seem to have a very strong desire to quit the vicodin, and I truly believe you are going to succeed. When you are clean and sober, your family will realize why this was so important. You have a good attitude about all of this and I think that will make sobriety that much sweeter for you. I will be thinking about you, please keep posting. Take care, Atlas
I really appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers. I'm going to go detox at a friends possibly starting this weekend, but with all of you suggestions and support, I really feel like I can do this. If anyone has any other ideas (supplies and things to make this more comfortable) than the others listed, please let me know. I'm nervous, but I know I finally have some support...and although I don't have it at home...I know I have all of you. That is so comforting to know. Thank you a million!
Jilly
Vic withdrawl is the same as any other.

The ER in the hospital wont do that much for you anyways that you can't do at home.

The cold, hard, reality is that its gonna hurt, your gonna suffer alot. But thats the result of being extremely addicted to drugs.

I mean there is no easy way out. No simple solution. You can't pop 35+ pills/day forever and then just stop on day and expect to smell roses.

Listen, Ive been clean off Oxy's for 13 months (400 DAYS) and I still have troubles.

So don't worry the road is loooooooooong, hard, painful and frusterating.
Kiwi's right..it's a long road ahead of you and a bumpy one at that....but that's why we get support and help to deal with what lies ahead. NA is really good for that.

I hate to say this, but here goes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,can you go back or go to another facility and tell them that you are addicted to Oxycontin? Just a thought. I dunno, you will have to be the one to make the call on this one. Good Luck..
jilly,

kiwi and cowgirl are right but the good news is that it doesnt last forever and it is doable. with a good attitude lots of hot baths and pampering for a week the physical will be over, the mental kicks in, but the more you can educate yourself and know what is going on with your body and withdrawals it will help tremendously to understand. the less frightening it is and easier it is to cope with. read as much as you can and get the over the counter help aides drink lots of water, eat bananas and soups and try to excersise and stay busy as much as you can. every little bit will help. try and do one thing nice for your yourself everyday. stay strong and open minded and keep close to the board for support and think about considering outside support counceling or a n/a meeting. you are not alone. believe in yourself have faith and you are so worth all the efforts. good luck and my prayers are with you.

Today I went out and bought some supplies to help me make it through. It made it all too real. I'm nervous, but I know I'll be ok. I have a good friend watching me, and I know she'll take good care of me. Thanks for all of your support...and advice is always welcome...thanks.
Good Luck, please keep us updated and let us know how you are doing and how the w/d are going.........Hang in there.
