They told me in the beginning, it's a one day at a time program...I have a daily reprieve today from alcohol/drugs as long as I do what is suggested, pray to my HP, God and reach out and help others...
I lost my good friend, Patti on Friday night...I found out on my way to the Friday night meeting...my other friend, Christine called me and said she was at the church but didn't think she'd be able to secretary the meeting because she was having a hard time talking through the tears...I offered to speak for her, it would have been what Patti would have suggested to do...We had a beautiful meeting in Patti's memory and I went through a lot of different emotions over the weekend and yesterday, after a few of us went to Sunday morning meeting, a calmness came over me....I got to be a good friend to Patti...she showed me how to reach out and ask for help, she showed me how to be honest and talk about my feelings, no matter what they were, she taught me about not taking other peoples inventories and how to be a friend unconditionally, she also taught me, no matter what happens, I don't have to drink/drug to get through it and I am proud to say, my friend, Patti died sober with her 4 year chip in the hospital on April 20, 2007...May she rest in peace and continue to teach me as her spirit lives on in all of us she touched so deeply....

Sooo sorry to hear about your friend, but glad for her, her family and friends that she died sober. That is something to be proud of.
I'm glad you got to have such a good friend in your life you will always have her precious memory to comfort you.

I lost a dear friend myself in the program, she had 40+ years, knew Bill W...she was last sponsor...her wisdom is still with me today and I know she is my angel...
