Well I went to the doctor and he said that my liver was not swollen thank god. And now I have to really be thankful and just stop drinking. After my doctors appointment though, well my doctor told me to wean myself off the crap for a month and I should be ok, and so afterwards my boyfriend took me to the local bar because the doctor told me to not stop drinking right away.???? I am very confused as to how he comes with me to the doctors for this and then is ordering me a shot at the bar an hour later, but yet yells at me for my drinking... I feel like Im going crazy and need some normal advise here....
What do you want Casey? Did you want to go into the bar? Did you make the choice to accept the shot?? What were YOU thinking Casey.

Casey...him taking you to the bar is to me some serious Codependence. As long as you are messed up he has to take care of you and can use that against you. I fall into that codie behavior alot. My hubby is pretty good about not drinking around me but sometimes I find that I want him to so that I can use that against him. Codependence no more/Patricia recommended a wonderful book to me called Codpendence No more. I read it and everything made sense to me. Sounds like you and your guy are falling into many of those categories. Most alchies do. You don't be sooo hard on yourself. It will only take a couple of days to wean yourself off and then you need to quit completely. You will know right away how bad your detox will be. If you drink a ton you will be throwing up by day 1 1/2. Then comes the headache and sweats. Be aware that you can die from alcohol withdrawl, so perhaps you need to get into a treatment facility. Everytime your beau gets mad at you know that it is about "His" stuff and not yours.!

Hi Casey, Glad to hear everything checked out for you at the doctors, but don't fool yourself, my Dad was real heavy drinker, and he hasn't touched a drop in over 20 years, but his liver looks bad, almost like he had never stopped, so now he is unable to take certain drugs that would help him with his cancer. Alcohol play major havoc on your body, somtimes not when your young but as you get older, it takes its toll. Also tell your b/f not to tempt you into things, that's just not fair! he's either for you or against you!
Take care of YOU

Casey,
I have no idea why your doc said to wean yourself off over a mth,That is not very professinal advice in my opinion,
When I was told about my liver, I said to the doc"can I do it in a couple of mths!
She said No Alcohol from now on, but in saying that She understood that I was a heavy drinker daily and no way could I just stop with out proffesinal help, which she gave me,
Casey my advice and get a new doc, or even a second opinion, did he take a blood test from you at all????

Casey,
Glad to hear your liver is ok. I have never had mine checked out and I am almost afraid to.
Anyway, I am really shocked to here that someone who should be concerned with your treatment would go so far as to order you a drink. Then again you are the only one that can say no.
Take care.
