Hello Everyone
I was soooooooooooooooo scared to go see my general physician about my overuse of vics. I thought I would experience his wrath, but instead he was very very understanding and took some of the blame for giving them to me. (He didn't make me swallow the pills!) But anyway, I was at my wits end. I had called around the city to see about detox but it was a no win situation. So I am so glad it turned out better than I thought by seeing my MD.
He just put me on a tapering program that was easy..I was trying too hard too soon. And so far I have been able to follow his instructions. I look forward to the day when I am totally off which should be in a few weeks.
So there is hope when sometimes we think there isn't any.
Sassy
sassy well done hun sometimes the first step is hardest at least now you have help never give up giving up if tappering does not work for you hun there is so many options kepp posting would love to hear how your progressing take care jackie xxx
Good for you, Sassy. It took a lot of courage to tell your doctor, and now you have a medically-supervised dosage reduction (taper) that is safer than taking it into your own hands. My experience was a little different. I tried to taper on my own. I went from 20-30 Vic 10mg per day to 8/day the first week (one dose), 6/day the second week (again, one dose per day), then had to flush the remainder because I couldn't stick to the taper....some can, I couldn't. But the end result was the same: I was free from the pills. Anyway, best of luck to you, and let us know how you're doing. Hang in. M.
