What Is Fetenal? (sp)

What is this you guys? I recently found these patches in my mothers medicine cabinet, and the are just recently prescribed to her. She has been sick, but not talking much about it..please tell me what it is, I have looked it up, and I dont like the sounds of it. And if I confront her, she will know I have been snooping, and I was, only for concern for her, but she will not see it that way. She is my world. I need the truth..Help me please!!
Good Morning LeoLady, in answer to your question Hon, I assume you
mean 'Fentanyl-Transdermal-Patch'----which is and opioid pain medication
within the patch---(family of:morphine,demerol, etc;,,)****usually used for
long-term pain management, control---applied to skin (vascular area ) and
is changed(new one applied) every 72hrs, rotating site (apply different area).
****REMOVING & DESTROYING OLD (previous applied) PATCH.****
( medication being released through skin over a 72hr period ). Don't know if
this clears things up a bit but I hope it was of some help for you. Good Luck.

Nice description. Let us know if you have anymore questions.
And - I just have to say this - if you are thinking about taking them, don't.
Fentanyl, especially in the transdermal form, is more potent then even heroin, and you could be dead in one use.
Like I said, I just had to say it.
But please feel free to ask anymore questions.
STRONG STRONG stuff. At the end of my useing time (last june) I got my hands on them, and they were soooo strong they actually made me sick and I was used to takeing 7-8 80 mg oxy's a day. I don't know your story? if your an addict? stay away from them!!!!
Leslie, just wanted to pop in and say HI!! How are you?
LeoLady....what are you doing snooping in medicine cabinets?

We don't get to do that anymore.
Leo Lady, I too was once on Fentanyl patches a few years back and they are usually prescribed for patients that are terminal or have chronic pain that can't be cured by any other means. Please talk to your mother about the patches as they are very dangerous and VERY habit forming. Maybe when you speak with her she will explain why fentanyl was prescribed for her. I do know that you must be opiate tolerant to even be considered a candidate for fentanyl too. Good Luck and I hope that I have helped you today.
I had them at first and used them for 3 days (patches) and took it off. It made me feel sick.
