Since we have been discussing smoking, I am curious as to how successful this new drug seems to be.
During my three weeks with the drug...I did surprisingly well. I surprised myself!
I intend to start it again on Sunday...it takes a week to build in your system, then you quit smoking on day 8 and keep taking the medicine to stay quit for a while.
I want to hear from some other successes!!!!

We discuss MANY things on this board so its pretty surprising to hear that response. But Ill leave it to those who want more info on this drug to look elsewhere, as advised, lol

And Donna...the reason I remember and brought it up as I was guilty of talking about smoking on the pain pill board and it was pointed out to me and it hurt my feelings...see, when my feelings get hurt, I really remember things well...
This poll is kind of off though so I'm going to wait until my quit...right now, I'm on day 4 and have cut back 60% but my quit isn't til this weekend and I would hope that I don't smoke any...it takes awhile, so I guess so far it is working as intended and will know more on Monday...

Well the Alkie post turned mostly into a smoking post and you didnt seem to have a problem posting there? As for the poll being "Off" LOL - give me a break - its my FIRST poll lol. Anyway, since Chantix seems to be such a promising drug, Im curious about it. I hope those that are serious about using it find it successful.

There are lots of discussions about chantix on the nic board if anyone is interested. I thought that's what the nic board was for?

Donna i think you misunderstood Stacey she was saying when she brought up it in the past she got scolded, so she was just forewarning you. Nothing more nothing less. I have no idea who jumped her for it, I am sure we could go back and look, but if it wasn't the mods, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yes Kat I agree with the nic board being here for a reason, but it doesn't get many posts, a lot of people don't read other boards, so perhaps having it here people who do smoke may not have been aware of chantix? Heck maybe you along with others have helped someone at least think about quitting and perhaps at least look into the new drug. Just a thought.

I am going to find a Doc that rx's it....haven't yet though..am very interested in hearing how it has worked and what the various if any side effects are.

Alcohol gets discussed here, for those that both drink and pop pills..both get addressed..doesnt get shut down or told to go to booze sight.
i see absolutely nothing wrong with this thread Donna Two, and Im glad you started it...its surprising how the two can be interlinked anyway...ive heard time and time again that people smoked more when they were on the pills, those that have quit the pills, its still a huge guilt to smoke and this in and by itself (guilt and shame) could be harmful to be living free from their pills ( in recovery for those that prefer..
I wonder if its even available in Canada yet...
