My hubby has 17 months clean after almost 10 years of of and on meth use (mostly on) the longest he has gone befor now was 1 year
The problem is that he still dreams about it and wakes up in the middle of the night with the tast in his mouth this is a big trigger for him it started the last relaps
has any one elece had this problem and how can he get through this???
I finely have the love of my life back and our kids have thier daddy back and we don't want that soalless , hartless monster that hurt us soo bad to take him away agin.

I am an IV cocaine addict...i have 41 days clean, but I will try to help. I have done Meth IV and I know the taste that your husband is talking about...i just never realized that you could get a flashback on it...
My advice would be for him to either get Online here and talk to someone, because the craving shouldn't last for a long time...talking to someone who has done this drug should help, compassion is a wonderful drug. Even if nobody that has used Meth is on, just being able to talk to another addict will lessen the craving...An addict is an addict...
I would also tell him to keep the NA bigbook or some Meditations ready, near the bed and for him to get up and read some literature until the cravings pass, he also should go to meetings AA/NA for daily support, no matter how long his clean time is...
What one cannot do alone, as a group we can do together.

I did meth as a DOC for 3 months...addicted, but couldn't afford to stay on it...
my suggestions are exactly what any person in a 12 step recovery would tell you...
get a sponsor, go to meetings, read literature, call other addicts for support...
if you are looking for a magical potion to make it go away you have come to the wrong place...

will there there ever be a time this gets eaiser?? I know he will have to fight 2 stay clean 4 the rest of his life but when does the suffering stop.
He has been seeing a docter and was on methadone for about 4 months
but he started abousing that to and decided to stop takeing them.
he has also been on lexapro.We have done alot of research about the long term affects of meth but so far we havent found any info about how to help

i'll be honest, i've never heard of a meth flashback, but that doesn't make what your husband is going through untrue
i have a catscan done 2 weeks ago, they ran a dye through me and i got triggered because the dye felt just like meth or coke once it ran through the veins in my throat...
all i know what to do is work the 12 steps...and talk to others who have the same disease, read the books and do the work..
i'm sorry i got harsh back there, just a little impatient, i haven't been feeling well.
i know for myself, that if i don't use the tools that AA and NA have given me, everyday for the rest of my life, i will die..

i dident even notice you were being harsh so no harm done.
He has just tried so hard this time. I don't want this to be the one thing that brings him down.

he has to realize that the only way to stay clean is with the support of other addicts, does he have a sponsor? or attend meetings...he needs to...
yes he knows he can't stay clean alone.And he has not let a day go by
i don't think he would have had the extra 7 months with out the steps.
He has also had the best medical help avalable in our area.
But he has such an additive nature his doc has to evaulate him monthly
and he enrolled him self into a program at his job were he gets drug tested weekley.I am sooo proud of him .

That is great that your husband is staying sober. I have one that still uses and was wanting to know what exactly is a white powdery substance that he snorts. He says it's half meth and half cocaine. Is that what they are doing? Mixing the two together.

I hope your trying 2 take care of yourself. I went through 2 misscarriages &
we had 2 split up for 7 months so i dident lose my youngest. It is an awful
2 see someone you love die slowely. I don't think my husband ever mixed it licke that he mostly stuck 2 crank except the last relaps he tried ice but said he dident like it becouse it dident have the taste.
