does anyone have suggestions for how to cope with some
detoxing from Meth? My daughter is on her way back to my house
after being carried out in a violent borderline psycotic state after
two days coming down? She had been gone five months, begged for
help, I had her here awaiting an opening in a rehab (could be a month
to a year they tell me). Is there juice, nutrition, vitamins, over the counter
anything to stop the aggressive behavior? It is the scariest behavior
to witness...I can't deal with it for long, but if help comes this week, I
can keep her here a few days. any help appreciated
I posted something on the F&F Board for you.

I'm not sure what to tell you about her outbursts . . . maybe therapy, or even going to a CMA (Crystal Meth Anon) would help. She is going through a lot of emotions right now that she needs to let out, but may feel uncomfortable talking to you or other family members about. The only person in my family I have ever felt okay talking about my addiction with is my aunt and that's because was also addicted to meth for long time.
I saw a rehab center online once that caught my attention because it claimed to have a different approach and could dramatically shorten the problems you face physically when you are getting off of the stuff (i.e., fatigue, weight gain, etc.) What they told me was very interesting. They said that normally, when you get off the stuff, it may be out of your system as far as taking a drug test or feeling the effects goes, but the toxins are stored in your fat cells for a long period of time. I don't remember how long it was, but I want to say it was up to 5 years, depending on how much you'd done. Whenever we get angry or excited, or have some other emotion that gets our adreline pumping, our bodies immediately go to our fat cells for more energy, that releases the toxins back into our system, and causes drug induced cravings. Their program claimed to dramatically reduced the time it took to get rid of the toxins stored in the fat cells to 60-90 days. Basically what happens is they have you sit in a sauna for 8 hours every day. Right before you go in, they weigh you and make you drink like a gallon of water. Then you sit in for 20 minutes to an hour and come out for a break and drink another gallon of water. You do this all day long and when the day is done, you will have "lost" 16 pounds of water weight which means you've flushed out a tremendous amount of toxins out of your system. You get on the scale when you are done and see that you weigh the same b/c you keep drinking all that water and flushing out the bad stuff. Most people don't have 8 hours a day to do this, of course, and I couldn't afford to go to their facility, so he said I could try it on the weekends, or everyday for like 2-4 hours a day. He gave me the name of a book which I can't recall, but if I find it, I will post it.

Thank you for your help. I wish my brittany had a friend like you...someone who understands completely. I do my best, but what the hell do I know about what she's going through? My mom faults get in the way. She has opened up to me more than ever...and what she tells me scares me; so I'm sure my silence scares her. It's great to hear from those who have been on her side because us non-addicts just don't get it..seems so simple to us. Slowly I'm learning through people like yourself what you all go through. We get so caught up in what we feel has been done to us that we forget what you're going through...at least now I understand she wasn't aiming it at me nor did she WANT to become an addict. thanx for caring and sharing.
If she will see a doctor and take any meds, ativan, inderal, or temazepam have been used to calm the meth madness state. Gvg is the answer to stop the addiction for good. www.bnl.gov
