What Would A Dr. Say/do?

If I went to my Dr. who has been subscribing my meds for over 6 months now and said I want to get off what do you think she would do?

I've been on Oxy's 10mg 60 per month the past two months and before that it was percocets 120 5mgs 4 per day.

I want to stop but am having a terrible time with the withdrawls both physically and mentally. I am afraid I will get reported for being a bad mother or something to DSS.

Help
beebah,

Your doctor would be happy to help you. There is no way on earth you would be "turned in" to anyone.

It takes a very strong person to admit that they have a problem. I admire you.

Addiction to pain pills is very common. I was addicted and to ashamed to admit it. I thought I was the only person in the world. My addiction lasted 5 years. You can stop this now before it becomes a real nightmare.

Do you want off because you are abusing your meds? Or is it because you don't have the pain anymore? Either way, your dr would probably be very happy to help you. Be honest, stay honest. You aren't a bad mother, or a bad person. It takes alot to ask for help and I'm proud of you.
BeeBah, I have 4 children and when I decided I had had enough I made an appt. with my doctor who had been giving me scripts for oxys for 5 years and told her I was addicted to them and abusing them. I also told her I was buying them off the street when I ran out of the script she had given me. The thought of someone taking my children from me never even crossed my mind. What did cross my mind was I was doing this for myself and in the long run it would make me a better person, mother, wife, employee daughter etc. My doctor was very supportive but I think she was thinking what took me so long to be honest with myself and honest with her.You will feel like a burden has been lifted from you when it is over.
