Love Dove, Rach, and all of the other oldtimers I have have missed? Hello to all the new faces too.
It's been a while since I have posted. Guess I just needed a break. Sometimes I find that I think about alcohol way too much when I am on the boards alot. I made it through all the holidays and still sober as of 9/6/05 so that is all that matters.
My H and I got together with a bunch of friends a weekend ago and you guys won't believe what happened. Of course most of my friends are alkies (in denial) but that's okay I don't judge them...now I just chuckle to myself. Anywhooo one of my girlfriends motioned for me to come with her and I did. She was taking me up to the bar and was going to do a "Virgin" shot with me! Can you even believe that?? A Virgin shot!!!! I know she was trying to be sweet and help me not feel left out but come on already. I explained to her that I don't even like to watch them pour the coffee shots at Starbucks! She still looked like she didn't get it so I used something she could relate to. She and all of us used to do Coke back in the day. I said, .,,,,pretend you had just given up cocaine and someone wanted you to not feel left out and they railed you up a nice thick line of flour or B-12???? Then she totally got it and we went outside to smoke. Crazy stuff still happens like that to me. Oh well no harm no foul.
Anyway...I hope all of you have been well. VW how has K been doing? I saw on another thread she relapsed. Hope it wasn't a bad one and she is back on track now. How you holding up mama?

Ya know what I dont know you from Adam but I wanted to say you doing that tells me you fought one hell of a battle to get to this point & GOOD for you.
My main thing are opiates but I realized about a year ago I cannot drink.Some can sit & have a beer or 2 on a hot day...Not me I keep going,So I made a personal choice to just NOT touch ANYTHING like that

Thanks for the quick response. I was just feeling a bit lonely this morning and I know it has helped me in the past to come here. I have seen you around on the other boards. Everyone here on the boooze board is always so nice. I think I popped over there (pill) a couple of times to ask some questions about Soma and of painpills after I had surgery in September. I won't bore you with my story but I have been addicted to everything from gambling, speed, and lastly alcohol. Alcohol was the hardest for me to come off of. Took 4 trips to the ER with lfie threatening Pancreatitus to finally drill it into my head. DUH you would think! I have a hard head! lol

It is "funny" how people react when you stop drinking...sometimes they just aren't sure what to say or do! But as time passes it just becomes...what it is...you don't drink...
It has been many 24's since I stopped...and today "not drinking" is normal for me...and for everyone around me...

It is funny how some people react when we no longer drink/drug anymore. My family seems to think that I am "cured" now. That I can be around it. They just don't get it at all. I relate so much to what you said. I was at a gathering with some friends awhile back and a friend of mine gave me a glass of soda in a wine goblet so I would't feel left out, lol. I told her no that I didn't feel left out and got a can of soda instead. lol

I've been busy with getting back to work, focusing on my Program and taking care myself....However, K and I have meetings at rehab four nights a week, we use to go 1/2 day on Saturdays but we recently got a reprieve from that 1/2 day session....K started to rage in the car on the way out to the rehab in the CIty of Orange tonight and you know how the 91 freeway is at night....so as I know she likes the social aspect of the meeting, I called her Counselor and I turned around came back home, after I dropped her off at a Women's stag meeting....her Counselor gave me the night off and said to bring her in early, he's gonna have talk with her!

I am 2 yrs sober on 14th feb, and you know what... I have had about enuf of being sober, life was easier when I was a drinker,
want to see the 2 yr mark then reconsider things,
Dont get on here much nowdays,

Hi Valarie... long time lol... I got good news today... I can get booked into a 12 day rehab if I want to. I have 2 weeks to think about it and see the paperwork all about it... I'm feeling more positive I think...

Izzy...that is great news Girlie! Awesome news. Don't pass up on the opportunity. You can always leave if it isn't "for"you. Light is being given to you so run towards it my friend. Congratulations on the wonderful news. Do be sure to read everything first though too.

Hey there Val!! Thanks for thinking of me! I was away just after Christmas, took a trip San Fran and the area, absolutely LOVED it... back to reality however... and it always seems things go good, then wham I get slammed with another "issue" to deal with it seems sometimes I get tested tested and tested until it feels like I'm going to break... just another cycle I'm dealt with, I'm handling it.. I know how you feel about being on the boards too much, it gets your focus on alcohol too much, and we gotta know our limits.... you keep strong girlfriend,and good for you for resisting the temptation and turning the tables, I've done that a few times myself!! :)

Sorry for the silence I've been in a work rethink mentally and also away from home a lot on my days off.
Izzy give the rehab a go and look for and keep all the positive aspects of it, also lock all your belongings up at home in case someone sniffs around your belongings when you are gone.
Ginge i havent checked my emails yet buddy hopefully there is one from you and remember addiction wants you dead there is no better life of drinking, it only means you dont feel as long as you drink or drug. Get to a meeting and talk. Addiction is having a go at your emotions and feelings i bet. Be strong brother and know that as a sober person you can and will get through anything.
