Hi all!
Just venting. I am sure I am not alone in hating holiday weekends. I really had a rough one. You know all the barbeque's and get togethers. I went to a BBQ/pool party and it was REALLY hard not to drink. I mean white knuckling the whole time. I have been sober nine months on June 6 and I think that this was the most I have every considered getting just blasted. I seem to do really well but just when I am starting to feel good I find a way to sabatoge it. I did not drink so that is the important thing but I did bum some vicodin off a friend at the party just so I could have some sort of high. It did nothing other than make me itch. I used to pop pills all the time when I drank but I never itched. I guess I was just always too loaded to feel it. I just needed to vent a little before going to bed. It's now 1:37am and it is time for some shut eye. Sleeping without passing out is pretty nice too! Thank you all for the encouragement. I have only been visiting this site for a few weeks and it really is very helpful to me. Take care....Peace and Sobriety.

Valarie, be careful with those Vics....they get a lot of people and seen the WDs of those up close and personal and it's not pretty (My Sister is a recovering PP addict).
Thanks for your words Zac and VW Girl...I really do appreciate it. After I posted last night about the Vics I said to myself, "You're and idiot! What do you want to have to detox from something else now?!!" No more of those for me anymore. Well I made it through the weekend and today we just got a new car so that was fun. Normally I would have celebrate with cocktail....no can do though. I also went to the gym this morning at 6:30am even after not sleeping except for about 2 hours....that made me feel good for the rest of the day. Anyhow I am rambling off....take care...peace and sobriety!

A BBQ without being blasted congrats!! Hey stay away from those pills. If you feel weak go read a few threads on the pain pills board. I was shocked by what I read there and I don't shock easily.

Hi all!
No Idgie I didn't get a car with good fuel economy. I am one of those annoying people who drives an SUV. It's a Toyota Sequoia, limited 4 WD. It get's a whopping 16 miles per gallon. I know that the environmentalists won't like that but I love it. Luckily we are pretty comfortable money wise so the ridiculous gas prices aren't a big deal. I am truly blessed. We did look at the hybrids but they are just tooo small and wimpy looking. Maybe when new and improved ones come out we will go that route. I took the advice and read a little on the pill threads and you are right. I don't even know why I took them. Just wanted some kind of high but as I said it only made me itch! I am actually glad I only itched because I probably would have wanted more. Thanks to you and VW girl , and all the others for your kind words. You live in Australia? I would love to vacation there some time. I have friends who have been and say it is absolutely beautiful and the people are sooooo kind. Thank you and have a peaceful and sober day!

Are you kidding? A good mexican resto in Australia? Not a chance. The "mexican" resto's here are SO not authentic. I refuse to go to them. If I want half-way decent stuff I have to make my own. Trouble is you can't get all the ingredients here.

Hey Guys....Good Gravy...I just typed a long response and my machine froze up and I lost it. Mostly I was just rambling on so I guess I saved you both! I would love to visit Australia some day. I love the accent. It's so chic! Seriously I love it. Idgie I also love fish tacos. VW girl I live in Costa Mesa part time Mon-thursday and then in Laughlin,NV thursday thru monday. My hubby and I have a house out there. We come here to work. We own a construction company. We consider Laughlin our home and here just work...I love it in the desert. Idgie last summer it got up to 126 degrees F two days in a row. That is Balls hot! Jimminy Crackers> My honey is a pilot so that helps with the commute. I just hop in the plane (it's a small 4 seater) and usually sleep. Something about the droning of the engine puts me right out. I love Wahoos too by the way. Don't dog on me but I will admit that I love the fish tacos at Del Taco too. My friends think I'm nuts. Idgie I am still not sure what to think of tofu but it does get better with each time.....still kinda tastes like a bland sponge. LOL you guys are great. TTFN

I often meditate and pray on the bus (to myself) LOL. Why does it feel like Friday when its only Tuesday? Maybe cause all you American's going on about your holiday weekend ? Or maybe cause I wasted half my weekend drunk?

Oh yeah...I forgot to resond to the comment about it only being tuesday..and the drunk part. Hope you are okay and didn't go on too much of a bender. My problem is that I can't stop when it's enough. Kind of like the saying one is too many and a million isn't enough. That fits me to a tee. I take everything to extremes. Right now I am on the losing weight and excercise trip. I just want to be skinny for the summer and then as my friends and I say, "Put our winter coats back on before it gets cold!" Nothing like a few layers of flab to keep warm eh? ha ha LOL LOL LOL LOL
P.s. Are Australian women just as hung up about weight and body image as Americans? I do have to say that Southern CA is famous for that and I am guilty of falling into that BS trap. Oh well. One thing at a time right! Take care.

the mountain lion? yeah my friend's rescued her, she was to be put down cause she was being held illegally by someone. They have a permit to keep her. Mountain lions can't be successfully rehabilitated into the wild once they are adults.
well my bender was a moderate one I'd say - could have been worse. Sunday night I actually considered calling in sick to work for monday and tuesday so I could drink for 2 days solid before drying out. Fortunately, I didn't do that!!! I'd started coming to my senses again monday morning.
Weight and looks? Yeah I'd say Aussie women are pretty obsessed about that - not the blokes though. I must say the one thing I miss about living in SoCal is all the great looking men there - most aussie blokes are fugly. (not you of course Ginge!!!! You are the exception to the rule).
I guess its a good thing I moved back here though - I have a bit of a wandering eye and at least here there's not much for it to wander towards LOL.

Valarie, I dated a guy who lived in Costa Mesa before I got sober. He was fighting a DUI in court & lost, imagine that - he hit a city fence, did damage to it and had to pay the expense of the repair, plus all the DUI fines, and attorney fees...I know how to pick 'em (well before sobriety). I use to take the Harbor exit....he lived behind gates in a townhouse on a golf course. He was court-ordered to go to AA meetings and just hated it.
Hey VW girl....Dui's are no joke. Luckily I never got one because I drove drunk alot. Lucky I dodged that bullet. I live about 5 minutes from John Wayne about 3 blocks from the golf course. Small world huh? I read a lot of your posts in the why I won't drink today that Jayde started. You have some good ones. Thanks for the responses. It's nice to know there is someone out there who cares even if you don't know them. Thanks a pant load you are valued.
