Withdrawals???

I've been percocet free for 9 days, and for the last couple of days I've had shortness of breath, and feeling like I have a fever but I don't. Are these withdrawals or am I sick??
first let me say that I am not a doctor and I advise you to see one... immediately.. I feel that 9 days you should be over most of the acute w/d symptoms... there is a symdrome called post w/d syndrome... but it usually doesnt hit until a little later and presents a little differently..
having advised you to go to a physician /ER... is the shortness of breath with chest discomfort... ?.... and what do you mean by feeling like you have a fever?... face flushed and hot or chills... ?....
What were you initial w/d symptoms like..
if you go to the ER.. you need to tell them about your addiction and that this may be w/d related...they will be able to administer a med that will be able to tell them in minutes if this is w/d symptoms or something else...
These records are confidential ... please dont risk serious problems.... I strongly recomment going to the ER....

Let us know..

Perc, I have never heard of that happening for the first time after 9 days because of withdrawal. Flu-like symptoms are pretty typical, but I wouldn't think you'd see first onest after 9 days if they were from the w/d alone. I also haven't read that shortness of breath is a typical w/d symptom, unless related to anxiety or a panic attack. But perhaps others have had different personal experiences. The best advice, I think, would be to see your doctor and get it checked out by a professional. Hope you feel better. M.
i feel like i have chest congestion, somewhat of a runny nose, and I do get the hot flashes at times. My daughter has been sick also though. I CAN function, it's just uncomfortable.
It can take up to two weeks for withdrawl symptoms to really go away. However, these were not your initial symptoms so I would venture to say it might be something on top of withdrawl. Remember that when you withdrawl your entire body becomes stressed out. So you are depleting your system and it's ability to fight infection. Therefore, you are more prone to colds, flu, pneumonia, etc. Best advice is if you are having shortness of breath and concerned call your doc so you can get in before the holiday to be seen. If you need an antibiotic they will get ya one. If it's a virus it will have to run it's course. However, you might need something to help you breathe. Or you might have something entirely different going on. Better to let the pros help ya okay?
Have a good day,

What medicine is this that they will give you to gauge w/d? I've never heard of this and I'm very skeptical. As far as the advice to go to an emergency room-that's good advice IF it is an emergency. The symptoms described sound normal to me for w/ds. It can take a good month easily to start to really feel right after oxycodone addiction. You know once you walk into the emergency room, if some doctor decides you need inpatient drug-treatment, they can mandate it, getting a court order if they want. How anonymous is this going to stay to an employer. Granted, an employer cannot fire an employee for getting treatment. On paper anyway, that is. Anyone with any common sense knows you may be committing occupational suicide the minute you go for help. The axe might not come soon, but at the very least your post-treatment job performance will be examined with a microscope. So my point-that broken record advice of leaving addiction problems to doctors and addictionologists and blindly following their advice is not always the way to go.
There is another health board and I was reading yesturday that someone that has been off percocet for like 3 days or something like that and she was having your symptoms too! Hopefully it just goes with the recocery and you will be just fine. Keep up the GREAT WORK, you should be proud of yourself. Rae
Percocet, the nine days is huge!!! Way to go, and please oh please oh please don't go back now. You made it past the worst of it.
I don't know about percs, I was on hydros, but I felt like I was going to die for a while...or very sick, anyway.
You might want to check with your dr. I would suggest motrin....(oh how I would hate it when people told me that...lol...)
welcome to the funny farm around here....

Dear perc, what might be hapening is that your having panic attacts, The addicted mind at least mine isnt used to not being able to change my emotions (at least for the last 25 years) with ourt using a pill. Also you might just have a cold The percs should be out of your system but again residual withdrawl isnt unheard of , Best of luck and keep posting Ray
