The sub dr gave me clonzepam to sleep, 1 mg. I don't really want to go there because I heard it is dangerous.
Like, ? mgs of clonzepam equals 1 mg of xanax...

dont take my word as gospil, but i have taken both. although klonapin is addictive it is far weaker in comparason and doesnt seem to give you that whacked out buz/feeling. it doesnt make you feel useless. besides if the sub dr gave it to you then i am sure it is a safer alternative. i dont know the conversions but i do know it is far less potent from my experience. you make your own judgement call and be sure to take as prescribed if you choose to take is at all. keep us posted.

Littlebeach, the two drugs are pretty much one in the same, Xanax is the brade/trade name. Here is a link you can use to educate yourself. I, as Danny, have been down that road. oh trust me i have done some extreme things in comparison as we all could tell our stories. addiction is what drives us to insanity and out of despiration yes i have even considered knocking off a pharmacy or harming myself for a fix. i am pretty certain i am no different from many other addicts when it comes to this. i have embezzled multi thousands of dollars even at one time. had i not been addicted the thought never woulda crossed my mine. i coulda been sitten in federal priaon.

Klonopin (clonazepam) is an extremely potent benzo. And with its long half life of 18 - 50 hours makes it utterly hellish to taper off. The only worse benzo (for tapering reasons) is xanax. These drugs (benzos) have profound effects on the mind and body apart from the therapeutic actions.Directly or indirectly, benzos influence almost every aspect of brain function and should not be taken for any reason other than very serious. Avoid them like the plague. Most doctors (esp in the US) have no clue about benzos and are IMO negligent in their prescribing. For authoratitive work check out the Ashton Manual - Prof C H Ashton of Newcastle University in England.

PS - I should know - I joined this forum below to help me come off 2 mg of ativan - it took me 10 months to do - suffering vile withdrawals for the whole 10 months. Many people cannot function during taper - cannot work - become house and bed-ridden. If you want to know the truth - go join the private forum at benzo org - speak to the administrator - Ray Nimmo - listen to his story and to the stories of many many people who became addicted to benzo thro no fault of their own. They never abused drugs - never got a "high" - took as prescribed ..............accidental addicts. These drugs are not to be messed with. Makes opiates look like candy when it comes to addiction and withdrawal!!!

That is what occured with me Rikki, accidental addict. I took it exactly as prescibed and never felt high... not even once. Then one day I decided life had evened out, dont need this anymore and didnt take it that morning. By noon, I was in the fetal position seeing stuff that wasnt even there, FULL BLOWN W/D. It was ony until a friend asked if I had taken my medicine today that I realized I was an addict. Dont you think that FRIEND could have mentioned it is highly addictive. I blame noone though. When I got the pills it was my responsibility to become educated about what I was taking. But you tend to trust Drs.
