congratulations...
just out of curiousity.....would this be happening if you wer'nt sober ?
Absolutely not. One of the many gifts of sobriety.
it's pretty amazing how financial matters fall into place with a little time sober, I'm kind of kicking myself in the a** now because 20 months ago (when I got sober) I should have put the money I spent on alcohol (roughly between $100-$150 a week) aside to buy a new truck......
so that's what I'm doing now since the one night relapse 2 weeks ago...

Awesome Zipper! Feels good to be responsible doesn't it. I never realized how the little things could give me such joy. :-)
Congrats girlfriend I am so happy for you! You deserve to have your own wheels. Drive safe. God bless and take care (((( ))))
Hey Zipper, I'm so pleased for you! It's nice to see you being able to get back out there and do stuff!
Right on Zipper! Can you shout Freedom! I'm so very Happy for You! You most definitely deserve this and more!
Congratulations on your new set of wheels!! Now how about taking a road trip to Oregon. We could spend some time on the beautiful Oregon Coast. Let me know if you ever decide to take a trip to the city of roses. I'd be thrilled to have you as my house guest.
Have fun with your new vehicle!!!
Love,
Chris xxx

So, Zippy, how's it feel to be driving again?
I won't get the car until Saturday or Sunday so I'll let you know then. I am so excited! I can't believe I haven't had a car since September 2006. That night I got my second DUI..wasn't drinking but had taken two ambien to sleep and woke up in the hospital! When the cops asked me why I swerved (totaling my car and someone else's) I said that I was trying not to hit the snowbank! It was the beginning of September, where no snow had fallen for many many months! LOL. The insanity.
Lookinup...I'd love to come visit. Now if only I had the cash to pay for the gas prices! :) Thank you for the invite. I've always wanted to visit Oregon. I've heard it is beautiful. Maybe I'll start saving for the trip.
Hugs.

You know I'd love to have you. If I ever make it to Utah, I'll let you know in advance. Our youngest daughter's best friend and her family moved to Orem just before her senior year in high school. I think they may be in Provo now. They come to visit once a year, or so. I miss them. The Mom is a friend of mine. I love the daughter like she's my own. She calls me her second Mommy.
All this thinking of vehicles makes me want to take a road trip. We are about to embark on taking down wallpaper and painting this room. It's going to be in the 90+ temp here. We don't have an air conditioner. We have an above ground pool in the back yard, that leaked almost all the water out this past fall and winter.
My husband doesn't want to replace the liner. I'm praying about doing the right thing. It's a lot of maintenance. I almost bought a $400.00 portable air conditioner this week. I must do research, before a big purchase like that. I've always loved the sun and like laying out in it. However, now that my hormones are changing I don't like extreme heat.
It's going to be in the 70's at the coast this weekend. Perhaps since I will be celebrating 6 months of sobriety soon. I should say to the hubby lets put off the room and take a road trip to the Coast. We haven't been for a year at least. It's my favorite place on Earth. I go there mentally alone often.
What do you think my chances are to persuade the hubby! The problem is it took so much effort and time to get him to help me with this project. Do I dare say lets start it a later time. I better think on this.
I love hearing the excitement and joy in your voice. Have fun with your new wheels. Don't be to Zippy and zip to fast around town. Well, maybe if your sure nobody's looking, around the back roads. Once or twice. I'm terrible aren't I.
Have a great day!
Love,
Chris xxx :-)

Chris, you crack me up. With age and maturity, I think I am no longer tempted to be too zippy. However, in high school I got in many an accident due to excessive speed. Funny story...my twin sister and I used to share a car in high school. We'd switch off days of driving it. I had it on the eve of graduation, which of course meant lots of drinking, for me anyway. I was so loaded and went around a curb (I used to call it 'curbing it') way too fast and both the tires on the right side blew. I ran up to my twin sis at the graduation breakfast the next morning begging her to say that she was driving because I had already gotten in far too many accidents. Of course and rightfully so, she declined my request. And of course, as soon as my parents saw the car, they knew I had been drinking. Gosh. I have ALWAYS had a drinking problem which always lead to making unsound choices and putting myself in harms way. When I think of all the times I zipped around in my car while under the influence, I have to assume my HP definitely has a reason for me being here. I should be dead...and trust me, I have tried my best to do so.
Grateful today to be alive, sober, and anticipating my 'new' car.
As for postponing your endeavor for a weekend at the coast...I had to laugh. That is a tough one for me to answer. Whatever you do decide, have fun, stay safe, and sober.
Hugs.
