Riki was found dead today by Animal Control. I went this afternoon to identify him and allow Yuki and I to say our goodbyes. I loved that little guy so much and my heart is saddened.

Pregnantmom, I am so so sorry for your loss. Wow, I got sad after I read this. I know he meant a lot to you and he was such a beautiful dog. I will say a prayer for you.

Lend Me a Pup
I will lend to you for awhile a puppy, God said, For you to love him while he lives and to mourn for him when he is gone. Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe for two or three. But will you, till I call him back take care of him for me ?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you and (should his stay be brief) you'll always have his memories as solace for your grief . I cannot promise that he will stay, since all from earth return, But there are lessons taught below I want this pup to learn.
I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true And from the folk that crowd life's land I have chosen you. Now will you give him all your love Nor think the labour vain Nor hate me when I come to take my pup back again.
I fancied that I heard them say "Dear Lord Thy WIll Be Done," For all the joys this pup will bring, the risk of grief you'll run. Will you shelter him with tenderness Will you love him while you may And for the happiness you'll know forever grateful stay.
But should I call him back much sooner than you've planned Please brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand. If, by your love, you've managed my wishes to achieve, In memory of him that you've loved, cherish every moment with your faithful bundle, and know he loved you too.
I am so sorry for your loss. I know how deeply you care for your pets. Riki was blessed to have you in his life, even for a short time. Just wanted you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
My heart hurts just reading this. I can't imagine how awful you feel. I am so very sorry for your loss. The love you gave this beautiful creature was apparant to all of us. I'm sure if Riki could have spoken, he would have told you how grateful he was for all you did for him. I'm so sorry, Amy.
pm i am weeping as i am typing this thread to you, especially after seeing his cute little face on the picture you posted. life seems so unfair at times.... why would this have to happen to this beautiful dog??? i had so much hope that you would find him. i am so sorry for your loss. k-9 lover julie

I know how you feel...I have lost both my pets( sammy 11 - cat, kito - dog 4 years) within months of each other that was over 5 years ago..it leaves such sadness that never goes away....sorry hon
i am so sorry for your loss. our animals (i am a dog person) have a way of wedging very, very close to our hearts. i understand.
when i lost my 14 year old rottweiler many years ago...someone sent me a card that talked about the "Rainbow Bridge". our animals go there, where fields are beautiful, they are comfortable and happy...and they are waiting.
one day we are spotted, and our friends run to greet us...and together we cross the rainbow bridge. riki is restored and happy and not afraid of anything, anymore. you will meet again.
you did a beautiful thing by taking an animal who needed a home into yours. i hope you will be able to feel the joy that "doing the right thing" brings to us very soon.
