Hi eveyone!
This is my first time posting and my first time detoxing. I went to a rapid detox at a hospital on 11/18, I was out on 11/22. I was detoxed off of Vicoprofen, and Xanax using Suboxone. They forgot to tell me that the cravings will stick around for awhile. I was taking 8-12 vicoprofens a day for about 5 years, and started using 3 Xanax a day 2 years ago. I was suffering from a bad knee injury from back when I played football. I had 4 surgeries since 2000, and then a total knee replacement in March. I am 42 and looking at another new knee in about 5 years. I took all of the meds as prescribed by my Dr. Right now I am sitting up with the most horrific body pains and chills. I cry all the time! Is there some supplements that would help ease these things? I want to get back to working out, but can hardly get out of bed. Any advise will help. I have no appetite, and stomach cramps.
Thank you for any help you can give.
Hey Fisher,
I'm so sorry for what you are going through right now. There is a thread here with the list of over the counter stuff that might help you out. I'll see if I can bump it up for you...It's late so most people are probably still asleep, but in a few hours I'm sure you will get a lot of advice. Hang in there and welcome to the board.
Love,
Liz

Thank you so much! I want to get better in a natural way, but still never forget what this really feels like.

I wish you the best of luck. I've heard taking a hot bath will help with the chills. Hang in there. I know before long you will be getting tons of suggestions. I wish I could that I could be more of a help for you but I never used vicodens so I couldn't even tell you how long the wd's will last.
Mike,
I don't know anything about Rapid Detox or subox, and vicoprofen wasn't my doc, but I wanted to welcome you to the board. Hang in there. You'll feel a little better every day, but only if you stay strong and don't use. Your brain is going into shock and telling you that you're going to die if you don't feed it an opiate.
You're not going to die. Keep posting.
Cheers,
Gina

Hi Fisher
Welcome to the board! I was on vics too, up to 20 a day when I finally quit. What your feeling right now sounds about right for just detoxing. Its going to take some time to start feeling better. It took almost a month before I actually felt like my old self again, but for some it does not take that long. Try to hang in there, keep talking, and try some plain old ibuprofen for the pains. Trust me, you will start feeling better each day. Do you have any face to face support you are getting at home? Having someone to talk to, who helps you identify the reasons you were using can help you find ways to cope when the cravings hit. Hang in there.

Hey Fisher,
I would call your Doctor tell them what is going on, see what they suggest.
There are A/D that will help with pain and perhaps depression if you are experiencing any. Cymbalta comes to mind. Elival is another. Both given for pain.
That was a lot to detox from. Both the vics and xanax.
The cravings are going to decrease with time. You need to divert your mind when it happens. Does OTC advil help your pain? Maybe your doctor can call something in non-narcotic related for the pain. Worth a try.
I suggest you get into some kind of on going support, Be it NA, or One on One. whatever your comfortable with. Face to face with people or person that can help you through this. Keep posting.

I thought this was a joke thread at first, that Rae was going to post pictures of Raid or something, lol. Sorry, Mike.
I don't know a thing about rapid detox. I was under the assumption you left there feeling great and it sounds like you're in w/d.
And we all know about w/d.
I can only tell you it gets better each day and no matter what don't use. You'd never want to start all over with this again.
I ditto what Brook said about getting some f2f support. This board is helpful but far from enough. You need a plan for staying clean and you need to gain the tools to help you do that.
Good luck and keep posting.
Love, Kat

Mike,
Everything you are experiencing is normal. I used about 30 vics per day before switching to oxycotin and percocet. Every body is different, but you should be through the worst of it in a few days. For me, the chills never lasted longer than about 5-10 days, and I was taking much more than you. My body pains would linger a little longer, but would improve each day. It may take longer to get your emotions stabilized. You may want to consider an anti-depressant, however, that did not help me--but it has helped most others. For me, insomnia was always the last symptom to leave.
I promise it will get better with each passing day. Your decision to get help with your addiction was the best decision you will probably ever make. You have come this far, don't turn back now. I wish you the best. Welcome to the board. Take care, Atlas

Vicodin was my d.o.c. (abused xanax to ease w/d's) I was right where you are now a few months ago. It does ease up, just be strong and hang tough. I used ibuprophen for pain. I still had pain but...better than going back to Vics. For diarehhea..immodium helps. I ate plain things like toast, white rice etc. The stage you are at is a real b**ch but it can be done.
Wishing you all the best and sending you good thoughts....

Hi all,
Thank you for your kindness and understanding. I took some advice on the OTC's, and they are helping a bit. I was told that when I was out of the rapid detox, that was it and have a nice day. No follow ups or anything. My family just tells me "Hang in there, and never take those nasty pills again" I never intended to become addicted, I needed pain relief so that I could keep on making a living, and provide for my family. Now it's like everyone turns thier head and pretends that I'm "normal" again. My wife gives me guilt trips about not going to any social events this last week. Can you imagine being at Chuckie Cheeses with a bunch of 4 year olds? That would drive me to drink! Anyways, I think my wife doesnt really understand the whole thing. I am calling a holistic dr. tomorrow and see what they can do to get my body better. Monday will also be my first day back to work since I detoxed. Hopefully I can keep my head. Thanks again for all of your support and advice. You all are awesome!

Have a great day,

Mike, I think the holistic Dr. is a good idea. My family has the exact same attitude. My MIL is glad that I'm "cured." You have a very positive attitude, keep it up and you will succeed.
LMAO Mike, I didn't even pick up on that, was wondering why kat said what she said....
Mike, I didn't notice, but I guess it could apply. LMAO
LOL Mike,
I noticed it but couldn't understand what you meant until they started talking about rapid detox in the thread. lol. Good luck, I hope you start to feel better soon. I don't blame you one bit about the Chuckie Cheese thing. That place is a zoo, WD and screaming kids doesn't mix. lol, Right now you just really need to take it easy. Good Luck at work tomorrow.
Love,

Hey good for you. I can relate to your family especially your wife. I plan on quitting on Jan 1st. or before if my supply does not last. It is amazing to me I kept saying "well this is it I won't be able to get anymore so I am going to try the quitting thing again." But low and behold somehow the ability to get them seen to get easier. I quit about 6 months ago, and felt great after about a week. I don't know why I started again I guess I thought "hey one or two won't hurt right? " boy was I wrong!!!!! I used to be supermom got everything done when I was on the pills cleaning laundry the works I was in overdrive I tried not to take the lortabs until nighttime I used to say I was rewarding myself for going to Chucky Cheese or being the room parent or whatever excuse I could come up with. I started taking lortab for sciatica pain almost 18 years ago. I take 3-4 lortabs a day and about 10 222's with them and I just recently found somas which I take 3-5 a day of. I know when I relapsed I am taking more than ever. What I could not understand is how people especially those close to me could not figure it out. My husband my parents and they all helped in getting my doc, of course never knowing I was an addict. But know I have to tell you it is different. The high is not as good as it used to be , it does not last nearly as long, I am so snappy with everyone and I do nothing. In fact I don't go out of the house unless I really have to. I have been in the house since Thursday. I make excuses for not going out (the snow, sick baby etc.) That was never an issue before. I don't like who I have become, this recluse who just waits until 7:00 p.m. to take my pills. I have to do this on my own because I am not willing to tell my family or go to meetings. I know there are many of you out there who will want to respond with you need the support etc.... But it is not going to happen so please take it from there. I have been coming here and reading the post and can identify with many people I just have not written in a while. Anyway Mike you hang in there because take it from me the relapse is much worse!!!!
