is there anybody out there who can help me.i have been taking subutex for four years after two years of addiction to palfium which i enjoyed at the time and thought it this was the answer to any problems. It did not effect my commercial or emotional life because i always had a constant supply. If i did run out i used df118 and stopped. However one day a doctor in France gave me 8mgs Subutex and continued for four years like a lunatic.
About 6 months ago my Dr suggested cutting the dosage and i did and am currently taking 2 0.4mg tabs per day but i cannot stop.
I am desperate to stop, please can somebody out there give me a solution. Is there a substitute i can take? please help me as i cannot tell my family or friends and nobody seems to know much about these tablets. This is my first posting, please help

thank you omega but i am from europe and dont know whether suboxone is available here and if so what exactly is it......it seems that i am on a very small dose of subetex...can you advise me ....maybe there is a substitute and if so is it suboxone?
Jeremy, don't know anything about it really but Welcome:)
Hey Jeremy,
That is where I have had troubles is understanding the difference between them. This is how I see it, but please know that it is only my opinion. I don't feel comfortable advising you.
I believe that the subuxone has a drug in it that makes it so it's not abusable. If you were to shoot the suboxone, it wouldn't be good. They both have the same amt of buphenorphine in them but the nalexone does something else and that is where I get confused.
maybe someone else on the board can shed some better light on this subject.
Sorry to be so vague.
Where in Europe are you?

Jeremy,
Go to www.suboxone.com It explains the difference between suboxone and subutex. They both have the same active ingredient, but suboxone has naloxone in it. This drug is not absorbed into the body when taken sublingually. It is only added to prevent shooting it up. So no, it would not be a sustitute for subutex.
I am on suboxone 6mg daily. I wish I were able to advise you how to stop, but I have yet to cross that bridge. Can you taper down a little further?
I wish you the best. Good luck. Atlas

Jeremy, This is a very small dosage. This is very managable. It will take about 2 days for the sub to get out of your body. There are two things you could do.
1. Just stop completely. You may go into WD, but from what I have heard it should not be near a bad as WD from your DOC. What was your DOC, how much were you taking and for how long?
2. Stop until you see how it feels. If you start to feel bad, try taking half of a pill, if that does not do the trick, take another half. Do not take anymore until you get sick again. Then you will be on the absolute lowest possible dose you can take without being sick. From there you can try to cut that dose down after your body has had time to stabilize. Let your body stabilize on the lowest possible dose for a few days. Keep cutting your dose and letting your body stabilize until you are down to almost nothing, then just jump off of it. The WD hopefully won't be too bad then.
You might have to WD a little bit, although some say they don't. It should be easier than DOC WD.
Keep posting. There are many here who can help talk you through this every step of the way. I wish you the best. Atlas

I just went back and read your first post. I am not sure what that drug is. However, since you have been taking sub for so long, you may have some WD. But you are on a very low dose and it cannot be too unmanagable. I will help you get through this. I am on here every day and I will talk you through this. I suggest that you cut down to the lowest possible dose your body can take without getting sick and tapering from there. Do it slowly. You have been on it for awhile and it may take awhile to get off without getting sick. But you CAN get off of it. Are you seeing a doctor? Atlas
thank you for coming back to me so quick...what does DOC mean...you are giving me better advice than anybody i have spoken to for years...i undertand psychologicaly it is difficult but beleive me i am fed with this chemical...are there any physical problems? thanks
Thank you...thelast message overlapped i think..I do see a doctor but he just prescribes the tablets and does not seem to know anymore about the drug than me....but you do...cheers
Sorry. DOC-Drug of choice. WD-Withdrawl.
What is palfium and df118?

Just so you know, I am on 6mg of suboxone daily. I have cut down from 12mg. I am in the process of slooooowly tapering off of this completely.
Sometimes we have to educate our Dr.'s. It is just a fact of life.

Jeremy,
I have to log off for a bit. Type suboxone into the forum search. Everything I know about sub came from the website and the good people on this board. You can learn alot that way. Good luck and keep posting, I will be looking for you. Atlas

palfium is a drug for people dying from cancer ...morphine i think..DF118 are dyhydrocodeine which my doctor said would get me off palfium...they nearly did and then i started on subutex because i thought they were harmless...silly me
thank you atlas..sleep well
Hi Jeremy,
Subutex and suboxone are pretty much the same except suboxone can't be injected due to the inclusion of naloxone in the pill.
I am 21 days off suboxone now, and I'm not quite back to normal yet, but it's getting better. The first few days were rough, but doable. It's not easy to de-tox, but it's well worth the effort to be free of pills for good.
If you want to get off them, it's best to taper down. I stopped at 3 or 4 mg. / day and wish I had tapered down more. Cut the amount you are doing by 1/2 mg. every week and then stop completely when you have finished your pills.
Best of luck...You CAN do this!

Hellcat,
I think Jeremy is only taking two 0.4mg pills per day. He is already below 1mg. It should this make it easier for him. Atlas
