This chatroom would just be a way for board members to chat in real time about recovery and other things. It would likely be through IRC, which can be set up to be very private and moderated.

Wendy don't worry, I would post detailed instructions and of course be available to help everybody (if this works out). I used to do a lot of computer stuff before now, including "help desk".

I take your point, but I actually think that part of the reason the claws come out so hard on something like a bulletin board is because people have time to stew and write out a big flaming post with no immediate consequences.

I also think even with the potential for contention, a chat room has a lot to offer, especially for people who are needing immediate attention, consolation, answers, advice, etc.

I think there are ways to monitor any disputes that might come up, even in a chat setting, don't you?

It's interesting that you are so for community and group support but have reservations about something that embodies that, even though it's in a virtual setting.

I have a question I know on the board if a thread gets heated it is simply closed or locked by the mods. Or if the mods feel the need to ban someone they just do it. How would that be done in a chat room? Just curious. Shantel
